The father of missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi has tragically passed away in Los Angeles, just two weeks after her disappearance, according to officials.
Ryan Kobayashi, 58, was found deceased in a parking structure on Sunday, Nov. 24, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. However, the medical examiner has not released information about the cause of death.
Local news outlets KTLA, KNBC, and KABC, citing law enforcement, reported that Kobayashi’s body was discovered near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) around 4 a.m. Sunday. Authorities responded to a call indicating a possible suicide.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE that officers were dispatched to the scene after a caller reported that it appeared someone had either fallen or jumped from the seventh story of a parking structure. The spokesperson noted that the deceased individual’s identity had not been confirmed at the time, but further details were expected to emerge by Monday, Nov. 25.
Efforts to reach the Medical Examiner’s Department for additional information were unsuccessful.
